ViPi Privacy Policy
Last updated: Mar 20, 2026

1. Scope

This Policy applies to the ViPi mobile application. It does not apply to third‑party websites, apps, or services that may be linked from the App.

2. Key Points (Summary)

Offline-first: ViPi is designed to operate without network connectivity in its MVP form.
No ad tracking: We do not run interest-based advertising or sell personal information.
Local storage: Exploration footprints and photo cards are stored on your device, not on our servers (unless future versions change and you are notified).
  • Built-in content (weird knowledge) is packaged inside the App.
  • Footprints (what you mark as explored) are stored locally on your device.
  • Photo cards (photos you select + text you type) are stored locally on your device.
  • You can typically remove local data by using in‑app “clear/reset” features (if provided) or uninstalling the App.

3. Information We Handle

The App may handle the following categories of information. Where data is stored and controlled depends on your device and settings.

Category Examples Typical Storage Location
App content Built‑in “knowledge” items shown on the radar and detail pages App bundle (on-device)
User activity (Footprints) Items you mark as explored, timestamps, snapshots of titles/summaries On-device app storage (e.g., local files)
User content (Photo Cards) Photos you select, titles/descriptions you enter, creation timestamps On-device app storage (e.g., local files/images)
Preferences Settings toggles (e.g., UI/animation preferences) On-device preferences storage

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information such as precise geolocation, government identifiers, or biometric identifiers. If you choose to add such information into a photo card description, it will be stored locally on your device.

4. Device Permissions (Photos)

If you choose to create photo cards, the App may request permission to access your photo library. This is used to let you select an image for a card and save it into the App’s local storage on your device.

You can control photo permissions in your device settings at any time. If you deny permission, photo card creation may be unavailable.

5. How We Use Information

We use information handled by the App to:

  • Provide core functionality (show content, store footprints, create and display photo cards).
  • Remember your preferences on your device.
  • Respond to support requests if you contact us (for example via email).

Support communications: If you email us, we will use your email address and message content to respond and provide support. We recommend not sending sensitive personal information in emails.

6. Sharing & Selling

No sale of personal information: We do not sell personal information as those terms are defined under applicable privacy laws (including CCPA/CPRA).

No targeted advertising: We do not operate interest-based advertising in the App.

No server upload (MVP): In the MVP/offline-first design, we do not upload your photo cards or footprints to our servers. If a future version introduces network features, we will update this Policy and, where required, provide choices/consent mechanisms.

7. Data Storage & Retention

Local data (footprints, photo cards, images, preferences) is stored on your device. Retention is generally controlled by you:

  • You may be able to delete footprints and photo cards using in‑app “clear” features (if available).
  • You can remove local data by uninstalling the App (subject to how your device OS retains backups).
  • If your device backs up app data, backups may retain data until the backup is overwritten or deleted.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures designed to help protect information. However, no method of storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and controlling access to it.

9. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required by local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App is offline-first and stores most data locally, we generally do not receive children’s data. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us via email, please contact us so we can address it.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, delete, correct, or obtain information about personal data processing. Since ViPi stores most data locally on your device (and not on our servers in the MVP), many requests can be fulfilled by you directly in the App or device settings.

  • Access / Portability: You can view your footprints and photo cards within the App.
  • Deletion: Use in‑app clear options (if available) or uninstall the App to remove locally stored data.
  • Correction: You can edit/remove your own photo card content by managing it in the App (if editing is available) or recreating content.
  • Support requests: If you contact us, you may request we delete your support email correspondence, subject to legal obligations.

11. Regional Disclosures

California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents may have rights to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” (as defined by law). We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Categories potentially involved if you contact us: identifiers (email address) and the contents of your message. Because MVP app usage data is stored locally, we typically do not “collect” it on a server.

Canada (PIPEDA)

We aim to limit collection to what is necessary. If you contact us, you may request access to and correction of your support communications by emailing us.

Singapore (PDPA)

You may contact us to request access to or correction of personal data we may hold (primarily support communications). We will respond within a reasonable time as required by applicable law.

Australia (Privacy Act 1988 (Cth))

If you have a complaint about how we handled personal information (for example, support emails), please contact us first. If unresolved, you may be able to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the “Effective Date” when changes become effective. If we introduce material changes (for example, adding server synchronization), we will provide notice within the App and, where required, obtain your consent.
